2017 Spring Top Prospect Showcase
Jared Wegner is a 2018 OF/RHP, 3B with a 6-1 190 lb. frame from Kearney, NE who attends Kearney. Large frame, athletic build with strength. Ran a 7.07 sixty-yard dash. Primary outfielder deliberate, smooth paced footwork while closing to the baseball. Works through baseball efficiently with clean glove to hand exchanges. Long arm circle at separation and released from a high three-quarters arm slot. Throws produced uphill carry to the bag topping at 83 miles per hour. Right handed hitter with an even, slightly crouch stance and simple front side trigger. Flashed quick hands through the zone on a line drive plane through extension. Swung with intent and showed the bat speed to turn barrel to contact and work to pull side with authority. Also pitched showing a loose, high three-quarters arm slot with a varying releases through finish. Gets on top of fastball offering well generating downward angle through the zone topping at 81 miles per hour. Curveball had 11/5 shape with loose spin and some depth down in the zone. Curveball flashed tighter spin with late depth while working at a high velocity. Maintained arm speed well with a changeup offering that flashed running action to arm side in the low to mid 70's. Very good student as well. Named to the 2017 Spring Top Prospect Showcase-Top Prospect List.
