Kevin Vanvalkenburg is a 2018 2B/3B/SS with a 5-10 150 lb. frame from Georgetown, KY who attends Scott County HS. Medium, athletic frame with slender present build; very good projection remaining. Ran 60 yard dash in 6.92 seconds. Sets up to hit from even-based stance with relaxed set, lays bat on shoulder into load, small stride to trigger, stays online with hips, line drive swing plane with some looseness through the zone. Flashes whole-field ability with developing jump off the barrel. Worked out in the infield; smoothness to actions throughout, footwork is clean and efficient, fields cleanly and gets off quick release, legitimate arm strength with throws clocked up to 86 mph. Pitched as well, extremely long and extended arm stroke, throws exclusively from the stretch, creates angle to glove side, fastball worked 80-84 mph with aforementioned angle. Showed curveball with 11/5 shape, gets slurvy at times but flashes sharpness; good feel for his changeup with good fading life. Good outing on the mound. Named to 2017 Ohio Valley Showcase Top Prospect List. Very good student.
