Marcus Mastellone is a 2019 C/MIF with a 5-9 155 lb. frame from Palm City, FL who attends South Fork HS. Small frame with a slender frame with room to add. Ran a 6.95 second 60-yard dash. Worked out defensively as a catcher. Sets up with a slight side straddle stance and weight on the toes. Quick feet when coming out of the stance with some explosiveness. Short arm circle in back and gets the ball out quickly with a smooth and fast exchange off to the side. Throws remain accurate to the bag with average carry to the bag and some developing arm strength. Workout pop time of 2.00 seconds and throws topped out at 72 miles per hour. Also worked out defensively from the infield. Gets around the ball and comes through maintaining momentum to the bag, glove work is smooth and fields with soft hands. Footwork is quick and can move laterally with ease. Gets the ball out quick with softer carry across the diamond topping out at 74 miles per hour. Righthanded hitter with a spread and straight stance. Utilizes a no stride with a lean back load. Soft middle of the field approach with the ability to hit the ball to all fields at times. Good student as well.
