Spencer Nelson is a 2017 OF/ with a 6-3 175 lb. frame from Granger, IN who attends John Adams. Large frame with a lean, athletic build and wiry strength. Frame projects for added size with strength. Ran a 6.81 sixty yard dash. Primary outfielder, uses two hands while funneling the baseball outfront. Uses a crow hop to produce solid momentum while working to the bag. Shows a compact arm action at releaset topping at 77 mph. Throws produces some carry to the bag with accuracy. Right handed hitter with a spread, balanced stance and leg lift trigger. Generates good torque at load with front side coil. Barrel has some smooth actions through the zone on a loose, extended plane. Showed good balance throughout swing while staying behind contact point. When squared, produces solid jump off the barrel to the outfield gaps. Creates loud contact when pre swing actions are quiet and on time. Very good student as well.
