Al Aguero is a 2018 MIF/RHP with a 5-9 160 lb. frame from Stevenson Ranch, CA who attends West Ranch. Medium frame with an athletic build. Body projects for additional strength throughout frame. Ran a 8.04 sixty yard dash. Primary middle infielder with active, athletic footwork while surrounding the baseball. Athletic actions while moving to each side with solid range. Clean glove actions while working through groundballs out front. Extended arm cirlce at separation and releases with a quick, over top arm slot. Throws created downhill angle across the infield with accurate carry to the bag. Athletic, clean actions while working through slow roller as well. Right handed hitter with an upright, straight stance and leg lift trigger. Linear lower half actions creating solid shift into contact. Shows a line drive swing plane with good strength. Primarily used a mid-field approach, consistently squared up contact working the ball to each gap. Controled the barrel well throughout the zone, flashing ability to work all fields. Simple, repeatable swing mechanics throughout batting practice. Also pitched, steps directly behind rubber while working into medium left lift to balance point. Tall and fall mechanics while driving downhill to the plate. Creates some cross body arm actions at times when landing close on front side. Quick arm actions through extension with a high energy delivery. Fastball jumps out of hand from a three-quarters slot with occasional running action and good downhill angle. Deceptive arm action with slider offering that matches fastball arm action and release point. Slider has tight spin with sharp, late tilt when working to glove side. Produces a lot of swings and misses, as well as weak ground ball contact. Consistently filled the zone with both pitches, developing command to the edges. Good two way prospect and good follow. Excellent student. Named to 2016 West Academic Showcase Top Prospect List.
