Zachary Chin is a 2018 C/1B with a 5-8 175 lb. frame from Erlanger, KY who attends Holy Cross. Medium frame with a compact, athletic build. Projects for additional size with strength. Ran a 7.85 sixty yard dash. Primary catcher, shows a slight side set while receiving the baseball. Sinks hips well while in crouch with solid flexion. Soft hands while receiving the baseball with clean glove to hand exchanges while working through transition. Gets rid of the baseball quickly while gaining ground to the bag with fundamental footwork. Throws on a slightly uphill path topping at 66 mph, best workout pop time of 2.21. Right handed hitter with a spread, straight stance and high back elbow set. Shows a extended, loose swing plane that creates some bat speed through extension. Primarily used a mid-field approach but flashed the barrel and hands skills to work the baseball to opposite field as well. Repeats swing mechanics well. Will continue to develop jump off the barrel with future physical maturity. Good student as well.
