Sergio Alfaro is a 2019 2B/SS with a 5-7 140 lb. frame from Fort Myers, FL who attends Gateway Charter HS. Lean, athletic build with square shoulders and a projectable build with room to fill throughout moving forward. Ran a 7.89 60-yard dash. Primary middle infielder, fields the ball out front with two hands, takes short steps moving to the ball and moves well to backhand, compact arm action coming through the back, accurate throws across, arm strength will continue to develop. Also pitched, side step moving into delivery, short arm stroke through the back and works to a three-quarters arm slot. Lands slightly closed and works across body, able to create some cut to fastball with release, topped out at 74 mph and worked away from hitters, showed a 12-6 curveball with short depth at 64 mph. Righthanded hitter, begins with an open stance and a high hand set in the box. Very simple approach at the plate, looks to create contact early in the count. Balanced swing and shows a line drive path to the ball, finds the barrel consistently and works the pull side gap, nice overall feel and projects with physical strength gains. Good student.
