Bruno Coimbra is a 2018 C/2B with a 5-8 145 lb. frame from San Diego, CA who attends Scripps Ranch HS. Compact frame with a lean build. Projects for additional size with strength. Ran a 7.66 sixty yard dash. Primary catcher with a low set and good hip flexion while setting up to receive. Fundamental footwork while working out of crouch with some explosiveness. Clean, quick exchanges into a compact arm circle. Gets the ball out quickly with a high energy, compact arm action topping at 74 mph to the bag. Throws produced accurate, on line carry to the bag. Best workout pop time of 2.08. Right handed hitter with a narrow, open stance. Creates good linear shift from lower half into contact. Hands launch on a direct, compact path to contact creating a line drive plane through extension. Consistently generated line drive, ground ball contact to the middle of the field between the outfield gaps. Tools will continue to develop with mechanical refinements and physical maturity. Outstanding student as well.
