Quinn Mahoney is a 2018 1B/3B/RHP with a 6-0 193 lb. frame from Windsor Heights, IA who attends Roosevelt HS. Large frame with a solid build and some present strength. Projects for additional strength with continued physical development. Primary first baseman with smooth paced footwork while surrounding and centering the baseball. Flashed athletic actions when pivot to throw to second base. Showed clean glove actions while funneling the baseball from a slightly deeper position. Created a long arm circle back at separation and releases from a three-quarters slot. Topped at 76 mph while throwing across the infield generating soft carry to the bag with accuracy. Right handed hitter with a spread, straight stance and high back elbow set. Loose, extended path to contact that produced a line drive plane through extension. Primarily used a mid-field to opposite field approach. Consistently produced line drive , ground ball contact to the opposite field gap. Generated occasional bat speed through the zone with some jump of the barrel when attack the baseball out front and turning the barrel. Outstanding student as well.
