Hughes Mitchell is a 2018 LHP/ with a 5-11 150 lb. frame from Mountain Brook, AL who attends Mountain Brook. Medium frame with a lean, athletic build. Frame projects for additional size with strength throughout. Primary left handed pitcher, creates good linear direction with lower half while driving to the plate. Strides lands at a slightly closed position creating some cross body action. Medium arm cirlce back a separation and releases from a three-quarters slot. Maintains balance throughout delivery with good extension at finish. Fastball comes out of hand cleanly with occasional glove side run sitting in the mid 70's, topped at 77 mph. Curveball has good spoin with sweeping depth in the upper 60's. Locates both fastball and curveball well using each side of the plate. Consistently pounded the strike zone producing weak contact and quick outs. Frame and arm action along for future velocity with continue physical development. Oustanding student as well.
