2022 New York Indoor Showcase (Sunday)
Yoshiaki Kanematsu is a 2023 RHP/3B with a 5-11 182 lb. frame from Forest Hills, NY who attends NEST+m. Kanematsu works from a strong broad build with projectable strength evident. On the mound, he used a full arm action and over the top slot to sit in the zone well, ultimately topping out at 74 mph. The righty's delivery was controlled and repeatable, flashing cut to the FB while mixing a curveball in the low 60's that had vertical depth and spin present. From his secondary IF spot, Kanematsu displayed sound glove work with the ability to throw on the run and change slots. Expect arm strength to increase both on the bump and across the diamond in the future. Offensively, Kanematsu had tons of balance in the approach, remaining quiet with the hands to generate consistent pull side contact. He kept the path level to create line drive impact with carry into the left center field gap, posting an exit velo of 84 mph. Good student.
