Joshua Johnson is a 2020 SS/RHP with a 5-10 140 lb. frame from Henderson, NV who attends Coronado HS. Johnson has a lean young athletic build with room to fill out and add strength. hits from a square stance, line drive swing plane with good extension and shows late bat speed. Hits to all fields and showed power potential. Hands work well and has solid barrel feel and control. Polished swing for age, will only get better as he gets strong and mature. Defensively, primary SS, has sure deliberate actions with clean hands and glove. Has a good release from a low throwing slot with accuracy across diamond. Also pitched, uses a high leg kick, has long stride but does good job keeping weight on back leg. as long arm circle to 3/4 release with good tempo to plate. Command all portions of zone with fastball that topped at 78, mixed in change up at 71 with good arm speed. Showed a developing curveball with 11/5 tight spin that flashed depth at times. Will only get better as he gets stronger. Named to West Coast Underclass Top Prospect list. Outstanding Student.
