Graham Smiley is a 2022 C/3B with a 5-11 160 lb. frame from Stanley, NC who attends East Lincoln. Medium, athletic frame with square shoulders and a lean, projectable build with room to fill throughout, plenty of time to do so too. Ran a 7.46 60-yard dash. Primary catcher, good flexibility in lower set behind the plate, receives the ball out front, mechanically sound and repeats well for age, quick release on throws and gets on top while gaining ground with lower half, accurate to second base, good arm strength already on throws. Softer hands in the infield, gets taller at release but full arm action and works on top of it well, takes long strides going up the middle, nice arm strength across the diamond with carry. Righthanded hitter, begins with a higher hand set and a low back elbow in the box. Upper body dominant swing with limited shift through lower half, will continue to unlock strength and consistency with an incorporated shift/stride. Shows looseness and quickness to hands, gets the barrel through the zone and shows a handle for it through the zone. Possesses fluidity and ball shows nice jump off the barrel when squared, consistent contact to pull side, nice tools that will only continue to improve with adjustments.
