Dalton Benson is a 2018 LHP/1B with a 6-2 170 lb. frame from Four Oaks, NC who attends South Johnston High School. Large frame, lean, slender build, athleticism, and room to continue to fill out physically. Primary left handed pitcher, utilized an online delivery, loads weight at top of leg raise, deception, closed landing, and a long arm circle. Flashed finish through the ball with developing consistency and limited drive to the plate. Worked downhill well with 72-75 mph fastball that flashed both cut and sink to different sides of the plate. Curveball showed 1/7 shape with depth and developing sharpness at 65 mph. Was around the zone effectively with both pitches. Secondary first basemen, clean footwork, accurate feeds, and developing arm strength. At the plate, started with an even stance and a leg lift timing mechanism. Hands work directly to the ball with a short, compact swing. Linear swing path with an all fields approach. Developing bat speed with low effort through the zone. Exceptional student.
