Joseph Winakor is a 2023 2B/OF with a 5-5 115 lb. frame from Storrs Mansfield, CT who attends Edwin O. Smith. Medium, square shoulders frame with long limbs and a lean, projectable build, has room to grow and fill throughout. Ran a 7.69 60-yard dash. Primary second baseman, fields the ball out front, funnels into a shorter arm action and shows accuracy across, quickness to footwork moving towards the backhand, extra step through release, takes short steps on the charge. Similar footwork in the outfield, fields the ball to side, long arm action to a lower slot, can incorporate additional lower half into release, gets under throws at release. Also pitched, small side step with a leg lift up to belt; remains on line through release while showing a long and loose arm action with a three-quarters release. Fastball topped out at 66 mph, filled up the zone and pitched to contact. Righthanded hitter, begins with a narrow stance and a high hand set away from body and high back elbow in the box; subtle load through lower half. Does a nice job of staying short to the ball, works mostly on a linear plane through the zone and looks to pull the ball at the point of contact. Shows a feel for the barrel with occasional back spin when squared, shows carry coming off when squared.
