Kai Huff is a 2007 SS/P/IF with a 6'0'', 165 lb. frame from Brooksville FL, who attends Hernando HS. He has a slender, athletic frame with good projectability for future strength gains. Huff has lively athletic actions and is a good runner at 6.88 in the 60. He moves well at shortstop and has quick hands and works through the ball well. His fielding fundamentals are advanced. Huff's arm strength plays at shortstop and he gets rid of the ball quickly to maximize his arm as well. Offensively, Huff is a switch hitter who we felt was much better from the right side. We don't know how long he's been switch hitting but all the PG scouts had him graded out at least 2 grades higher right handed. From the right side Huff has very good bat speed and attacks the ball aggressively. He has some lift in his swing and shows power potential that will improve as he fills out. From the left side Huff has much more of a contact oriented swing and tends to feel for the ball. Overall, Huff has the tools and skills to play the middle of the field at the next level and should be followed closely.
