Cody Benton is a 2019 RHP with a 6-4 215 lb. frame from Cerro Gordo, NC who attends West Columbus HS. Big and physical build, lots of present strength. Compact arm stroke from a tight high 3/4's arm slot, loads on his back hip, stays on line and gets downhill well with good plane, will occasionally drift out front. Fastball topped out at 90 mph, has good sink down in the zone, showed the ability to work both sides of the plate. Has good feel for his slider and will change speeds and depth on it. Developing change up. Has good pitchability when his delivery is together and on time. Very good student, verbal commitment to East Carolina.
