Colby Fields is a 2019 RHP/3B, OF with a 6-2 190 lb. frame from McDonough, GA who attends Ola. Large frame with long limbs and present strength. Projects for additional strength. Primary right handed pitcher with a short rock step to medium leg lift delivery. Gathers well and balance and works to the plate with a compact stride. Clean arm circle at take back and released from a high three-quarters arm slot. Fastball generated some downhill plane through the zone with occasional run to arm side in the upper 70's, topped at 80 miles per hour. Curveball had 10/5 shape with tight spin and late bite in the low 70's. Consistently change hitters eye level and aggressively challenged hitters. Also worked out defensively from the infield and outfield showing delibeate actions while moving to the baseball. Flashed smooth glove actions from each position with clean exchanges while working through exchange. Gets the baseball out quickly flashing solid arm whip at release from each position. Right handed hitter with a spread, even stance and simple leg lift trigger. Stays on back side and works to contact with rotational lower half actions. Loose path to baseball with a line drive plane through extension. Flashed present bat speed and stayed behind baseball well at contact. Ball jumped off the barrel producing solid carry to the middle of the field when squared. Outstanding student as well.
