2004 Underclass National Showcase
A.J. Dunn -- Dunn is a physically mature junior right hander from Michigan with strength throughout his upper and lower body. He has a smooth, quiet delivery with good on-line direction to the plate and an aggressive lower half drive. Dunn pounded the strike zone aggressively with an 86 mph fastball that had late tailing action to it and he seemed to enjoy it. His best pitch, though, was a 71-72 mph power breaking ball that flashed occasional plus biting action to it and had knees buckling consistently. Dunn also threw a nice change up. This is a young pitcher who could easily develop into a low 90’s power pitcher given a few years of work and he looks like he has a great presence and attitude on the mound. Dunn is a very good runner with some body life, which helps his projection, and he’s a good student as well. The big time arm and athletic ability make him a top college prospect
