Joshua Romero is a 2017 SS/RHP with a 6-0 170 lb. frame from San Lorenzo, CA who attends Arroyo High School. Medium build and frame, athleticism, and room to continue to develop physically and add strength. Posted a 7.34 time in the 60 yard dash. Primary shortstop, moved well to backhand, efficient footwork, and clean fielding actions. Rounded the ball well with good balance and actions on the slow roller. At the plate, started with a wide base, medium hand set, and a quick leg lift timing mechanism. Showed raw bat speed with intent in swing to drive ball in the air. Torques through trunk with a deeper coil in load. Flashed loud contact off the barrel with strength when timed. Very aggressive, pull oriented approach. Will continue to improve at the plate with improved timing. Also pitched, threw from a three quarter slot, created leverage, compact arm stroke, and longer arm action through the back. Showed good arm speed on the mound with a fastball that showed sink at 83-86 mph. Slowed arm down for slider with ability to manipulate shape of the pitch. Showed raw spin and was around the plate well in lone inning. Named to Top Prospect List.
