2016 Spring Top Prospect Showcase
Joseph Schnoebelen is a 2017 RHP/C with a 5-10 200 lb. frame from Iowa City, IA who attends City HS. Strong compact build, especially in the lower half. Leg kick delivery with a slight pause at the top, over the top arm action, arm works well coming through for his slot, stays on line and repeats his mechanics well. Upper 70's fastball, topped out at 80 mph, gets good running and sinking action on his fastball and throws it with good angle to the plate. Curveball has good 12/6 downer depth at times, will slow his arm on this pitch occasionally. Threw strikes and made adjustments well. Right handed hitter, upright stance with a high hand set, keeps his swing short and gets his hands through to contact well, has some bat speed, solid swing mechanics and hitting tools, should hit for a high average. Showed his arm strength from behind the plate in drills, young actions and fundamentals receiving and throwing. Very good student.
