Jermane Shegog is a 2020 SS/OF with a 5-8 125 lb. frame from Lexington, KY who attends Lafayette. Smaller frame with a lean, athletic build and beginnings of strength. Projects for additional size and strength with continue physical maturity. Ran a 7.01 sixty yard dash. Primary shortstop, athletic actions with solid footwork while ranging and surrounding baseball. Clean glove actions while funneling that baseball with fluid glove to hand exchanges while working through transition. Releases from a compact arm action topping at 66 mph. Throws produced occasional carry to the bag with accuracy. Right handed hitter with an upright, open stance and high back elbow set. Hands launch on a compact path to contact creating a line drive plane. Produces good extension through the baseball with a mid-field approach. Swing stays balanced throughout with the ability to hit to all fields as well. Young athlete, tools will continue to develop with maturity and repetition.
