Kyle Compton is a 2022 SS/RHP, C with a 5-10 160 lb. frame from Morristown, TN who attends Morristown East. Medium, athletic frame with square shoulders and present strength proportioned to frame, addtional room to support added strength. Ran a 7.66 60-yard dash. Primary shortstop, fields the ball out front, shows a quick transfer and release out of glove with a tight release on throws, works on top of throws well, overall footwork will continue to develop, shows carry on throws across the diamond. Also caught, receives out front with two hands, gets tall out of crouch, deliberate actions with arm strength that will continue to develop from behind the plate, 2.14 best pop. Also pitched, repeats delivery well and stays compact with a belt high leg lift; full arm action through the back working to a high three-quarters release point. Worked on top of the baseball and topped out at 75 mph, lived in bottom half of the zone and away from righthanded hitters, mostly true in life. Flashed a breaking ball up to 68 mph. Righthanded hitter, begins with an even stance and a high hand set and back elbow at the plate. Loads hands at start, upper body dominant swing. Simple swing path and remains short through the zone, contact oriented approach. creates line drive contact when squared and on time, projects with additional shift through lower half, found the barrel well in live action. Very good student.
