Nick Elms is a 2019 C/1B with a 5-9 165 lb. frame from Overland Park, KS who attends Blue Valley Northwest HS. Medium frame with a solid build. Projects for additional size with strength. Primary catcher with a side set stance while receiving the baseball. Gains ground towards to bag while working out of crouch while creating a lower, extended exchange. Baseball comes out of hand quickly generating some carry to the bag with accuracy. Topped at 67 mph with a best workout pop time of 2.07. Right handed hitter with an upright, open stance. Creates some front side coil and load with slight wrap. Lower half launches with rotational actions producing some shift into contact. Loose barrel path to contact with a line drive plane through extension. Primarily used a mid-field approach and consistently barreled up baseball throughout batting practice. Stays balanced throughout and repeatable swing mechanics well. Tools wills continue to develop with physical maturity and repetition. Good student as well.
