Jake Artzt is a 2018 RHP/1B with a 6-4 195 lb. frame from Ridgefield, CT who attends Ridgefield High School. Extra-large, athletic frame with a long and projectable build, room to fill throughout moving forward. Ran a 7.60 60-yard dash. Primary righthanded pitcher, rock step back to begin with medium leg lift, gets tall on backside and gathers over the rubber, some drop and drive in lower half towards the plate. Medium arm circle through the back working to a three-quarters arm slot, shows arm speed through extension. Hides baseball well and creates some jump on fastball with running life, topped out at 79 mph. Shows ability to pitch backwards, 10-4 shape on curveball with sound spins and some sweep to finish, up to 67 mph. Works behind the ball well at first base, clean pivot and shows a full arm action through the back side. Righthanded hitter, begins with a spread and even stance, utilizes a simple trigger for timing. Upper body dominant swing, loose path and looks to pull the ball, shows bat speed and ability to turn the barrel when on time and extended. Very good student.
