Ronan Townsend is a 2017 3B/1B with a 6-3 212 lb. frame from Ridgefield, CT who attends Ridgefield High School. Extra-large, athletic frame with square shoulders and present strength proportioned throughout frame. Ran a 7.71 60-yard dash. Primary third baseman, fields the ball out front with a wide base, glove plays nicely at the ball, long strides moving towards ball and gets behind it well, full arm action through the back, accurate across. Similar actions off first base bag, extra step at release, developing footwork, shows strength on throws across. Righthanded hitter, begins with a wide base and a high hand set and back elbow in the box. Upper body dominant swing, uses a toe tap trigger for timing, strides even moving into contact and shows a line drive swing plane through the zone. Creates occasional leverage out front, shows strength when finishing through the ball, front side goes early at times, creates consistent contact to the pull side.
