William Chamberlain is a 2018 1B/LHP with a 5-11 162 lb. frame from San Diego, CA who attends Mater Dei Catholic HS. Medium frame with an athletic build and broad shoulder. Projects for additional strength. Left handed hitter with balanced, slight closed stance and leg kick trigger. Creates big shift into contact from lower half. Loose, line drive swing path through extension. Shows good hand quickness with present bat speed. Swings with intent to drive the baseball. Turns the barrel to control producing some loud contact to the pull side gap. Worked out defensively from first base showing clean glove actions with a slightly deeper funnel. Shuffles feet quickly when moving to both sides. Throws acorss the infield with an uphill arm action that produces some carry with accuracy, topped at 70 mph. Also pitched from the left side using a simple leg lift delivery. Stays tall and creates slight crouch at gather. Deep arm stab into a compact arm cirlce at separation. Releases from an overtop arm slot that creates downhill plane to the plate. Fastball has some sinking life down in the zone in the low 70's. Flashed a curveball that has softer spin and early break. Tools will continue to develop with physical maturity and repetition. Good student as well.
