Matthew Hughey is a 2017 RHP/OF with a 6-2 165 lb. frame from Boiling Springs, SC who attends Spartanburg Christian Academy High School. Medium build with a tall, lean athletic frame and lots of room to fill out physically. Posted a 7.00 time in the 60 yard dash. Primary right handed pitcher, longer arm action with a slight stab at the end of the circle with deception and an online landing. Gets extension down the mound with good glove side mechanics. Fastball worked 76-81 mph with good arm side life and kept it around the zone. Curveball showed 11-5 shape with some depth and flashed sharpness at 74 mph. Also worked out in the outfield, longer arm action with extension and moves well to the ball. At the plate, started with a high hand set and a leg lift timing mechanism. Additional lower half incorporation and timing would aid i consistent contact.
