Stephen Boutwell is a 2019 3B/RHP, 2B with a 5-8 180 lb. frame from Kaufman, TX who attends Crandall High School. Younger player with broad shoulders, some strength at present with the ability to refine frame. Posted a 7.57 time in the 60 yard dash. Primary third basemen, showed sound hands with accuracy to the bag and developing arm strength across the diamond. At the plate, started with a narrow base, high hand set, high back elbow, and a toe tap timing mechanism. Comes closed well, turns lower half into contact with a longer swing through the zone. Looks to lift ball with the ability to get the ball to all fields. Will improve with additional strength and lower half incorporation. Also pitched, threw from a compact arm action, over the top slot, was tall through back side, and slight pause before coming to the plate. Showed good rhythm to delivery, landed online, with limited effort. Fastball generated short arm side life and was thrown at 73-76 mph consistently around the zone. Curveball with 12/6 shape, guiding it towards the plate with some feel for the pitch. Slider with shorter life at 67 mph pulled across body.
