Matthew Merrill is a 2017 RHP with a 6-3 208 lb. frame from Tulsa, OK who is home schooled. Has a large frame, large build, and clear sign of present strength with projection left. Posted a 7.21 second sixty yard dash. On the mound, showed a good arm speed from a high, three-quarter arm slot with good extension out front, arm works well. Slight crossfire because of closed landing delivery with good extension out front. Fastball has good sinking action. Curveball had 11/5 shape with big breaking action. Does a nice job of turning over the change-up. Goes right after hitters, very efficient. From the outfield, has good athleticism and fields the ball cleanly. Clean arm action on throws with good arm strength up to 87 MPH. At the plate, right-handed hitter that starts with a balanced stance and tight hand set. Displayed good strength off the barrel with good bat speed. Looks to hit the ball with authority with good extension through the baseball. Excellent student. Named to 2016 National Indoor Top Prospect List.
