Ricardo Figueroa Acosta is a 2017 C/2B with a 5-7 143 lb. frame from Mexico City, DF who attends Escuela Nacional Preparatoria Número 5 "José Vasconcelos", Unam. Compact frame with a lean, athletic build. Primary catcher with a balanced stance while setting up to receive. Gains some ground while lifting out of crouch and worked through transfer with very quick, clean actions. Released from a compact arm slot creating accurate on line carry to the bag, best workout pop time of 2.06. Right handed hitter with with a spread stance, high back elbow set and simple front side trigger. Hands start at a compact set next to ear and launch to contact on a direct path. Barrel worked through the zone on a level, line drive plane flashing occasional bat speed and strength at contact. When on time, showed the ability to turn barrel to baseball and create hard contact to the pull side gap. Good student.
