Blake Shaiper is a 2017 RHP/OF with a 6-1 165 lb. frame from Weldon Spring, MO who attends Francis Howell HS. Large frame with lean, athletic present build; body projects very well yet. Ran 60 yard dash in 7.18 seconds. Primary pitcher, spine tilt into delivery with medium-length arm circle up to overtop slot, gets downhill pretty well and online throughout. Fastball worked 74-78 MPH, did a good job throwing strikes with the pitch. Showed good feel for the curveball, with 11/5 shape and quality depth, also showed ability to manipulate the shape of the pitch as well. Hits from spread, open stance; shifts weight forward well into swing, short hand path with solid bat speed. Showed good jump off the barrel. Worked out in the outfield, lines up well before fielding, mechanically sound fundamentals, fields clean and shows quality arm strength up to 82 MPH.
