Joseph Bussone is a 2017 OF with a 6-0 160 lb. frame from Ladera Ranch, CA who attends JSerra Catholic HS. Large frame with an athletic build. Projects for additional size with strength. Right handed hitter with a spread, straight stance and high hand/back elbow set. Produces some coil and wrap at load. Creates some shift into contact with rotational lower half actions. Launches to contact on a compact path with a line drive swing plane. Extends through contact point well generating solid back spin off the barrel to the gaps. Shows bat speed and jump to the opposite field gap and flashes loud contact to the pull side gap. Worked out defensively from the outfield showing smooth, athletic footwork while closing on the baseball and working through transition. Smooth glove actions with clean glove to hand exchanges in throw. Ball comes out of hand cleanly from a three-quarters arm slot topping at 81 mph. Throws produce accurate carry to the bag. Very good student as well.
