Luke Heiberg is a 2020 C/OF with a 5-9 160 lb. frame from Monrovia, CA who attends Monrovia High School. Medium, athletic frame with square shoulders and a lean, projectable build with room to fill throughout moving froward. Ran a 7.18 60-yard dash. Primary catcher, slight turn to start during drills, receives the ball out front, shows quickness to arm stroke working to an over-the-top release point, gets tall out of the crouch and can continue to incorporate additional lower half into release. Showed well in the outfield, good energy to the ball and fields out front, work through the ball nicely with similar compact arm action, repeats well and shows carry on throws with accuracy. Righthanded hitter, begins with a slightly open stance and a high hand set and back elbow in the box; utilizes a leg lift trigger and can continue to incorporate additional weight shift moving into contact. Stays short to the ball with swing path and keeps hands inside throughout, stays simple overall with mechanics. Works with a linear path through the zone and does a nice job of finding the barrel, comfort working to the pull side. Good student.
