Zachary Garcia is a 2019 LHP/1B, OF with a 6-0 165 lb. frame from Columbus, GA who attends Calvary Christian. Medium frame with long limbs and a lean build. Frame projects to support additional strength. Primary left handed pitcher with a smooth paced rock step to medium leg lift delivery. Stays balanced on back side at gather and worked to the plate with drop and drive actions. Lands in line with the plate and carries momentum to target well. Loose arm circle at take back and released from a high three-quarters arm slot. Fastball produced some jump out of hand with occasional downhill tilt in the mid 70's, topped at 77 miles per hour. Showed good feel for fastball offering with the ability to spot up on each edge of the plate. Breaking ball showed proper shape with solid spin an depth in the mid 60's. Also flashed a changeup offering that created some fade to arm side in the mid to upper 60's. Consistently challenged hitters in the zone and looked to induce weak contact. Also worked out defensively from first base showing clean footwork while centering the baseball. Funnels out front and created accurate carry across the infield topping at 75 miles per hour. Right handed hitter with a slightly crouched, open stance and high back elbow set. Employed a simple leg lift trigger and worked to contact with rotational lower half actions. Loose hand path to baseball with a clean, line drive barrel plane through extension. Stays balanced at contact and displayed the the barrel feel to work to the middle of the field and opposite field gap. Excellent student.
