Mitchell Long is a 2017 OF/LHP with a 6-0 195 lb. frame from Lebanon, PA who attends Annville Cleona. Large frame with present strength throughout. Left handed hitter with a large physical presence at the plate. Turns barrel into contact well that generates plus bat speed. Shows quick hands to contact with solid gap to gap power. Like to create extension at contact and hit the ball out front. Worked out defensively from the outfield showing a compact arm circle and an extended three quarter arm action at release. Tends to throw from a slightly upright, open position. Baseball comes out of hand clean, topped at 80 mph from the outfield. Throws produce solid on line carry with accuracy. Flashed athletic actions while closing on baseball with developing glove actions through transition. Also pitched showing a compact arm swing from a low three quarters arm slot. Uses lower half very effectively while staying on line through release. Fastball flashed good arm side run with some downhill angle. Curveball shows some depth at times when staying on top of offering. Aggresively attacks the strike zone with both pitches. Fastball has heavy quality when located down in the strike zone. Projects better as an outfield prospect at this time.
