Brandon Deutsch is a 2017 RHP/OF with a 6-6 196 lb. frame from Los Angeles, CA who attends New Roads HS. Tall frame with long limbs and present strength. Projects for additional strength. Ran a 7.51 sixty yard dash. Primary right handed pitcher with a high energy, balanced delivery. Created some cross body action at release from a high three-quarters slot. Will lower arm slot at times and work from a mid three-quarters. Fastball flashed solid downward angle to the plate when working from the high arm slot topping at 85 mph. Started to working in the upper 70's, to low 80's in later innings. Curveball flashed solid spin with late depth in the mid 60's. Also showed a changeup with good fading action when located down in the zone. Frame and arm action project for additional velocity with continued physical development. Consistently filled the zone with developing feel for the edges of the plate. Also worked out defensively from the outfield showing deliberate actions while closing to the baseball. Funnels the baseball underneath with two hands while working up into transition. Topped at 81 mph creating some on line carry with accuracy to the bag. Right handed hitter with a spread, balanced stance. Shows a mid-field approach with intent to drive the baseball into the gaps. Hands launch on a compact, direct path to contact with occasional stiffness through extension. Flashed solid backspin and carry to the outfield gaps when squaring contact. Very good student as well.
