Donovan Whibbs is a 2018 SS/2B with a 5-11 155 lb. frame from Gulf Breeze, FL who attends Pensacola Catholic. Medium frame with a lean build. Frame projects to support additional size with strength. Ran a 6.77 sixty-yard dash. Primary shortstop with compact, active footwork while ranging for and surrounding the baseball. Clean glove actions while funneling the baseball out front and generated good momentum to the bag with fluid exchanges. Long arm circle and released form a three-quarters arm slot. Throws generating accurate carry the bag topping at 80 miles per hour. Left handed hitter with an upright, even stance and high back elbow set. Creates some shift into contact with linear lower half actions. Simple, direct path to contact with a line drive plane through extension. Showed good balance throughout swing and consistently produced hard contact to all fields throughout batting practice. Named to the 2017 National Academic Showcase Top Prospect List. Outstanding student.
