Yanni Orfanidis is a 2017 RHP/MIF with a 5-11 155 lb. frame from Bayside Hills, NY who attends Archbishop Molloy High School. Medium, athletic frame with a high waist, long limbs, and a lean, projectable build with room to fill throughout. Ran a 7.24 60-yard dash. Primary righthanded pitcher, able to create deception to delivery with moving parts, shows athleticism to repeat and comes at hitters with different arm angles. Works primarily from a three-quarters arm slot but as effective when dropping to a near side arm slot, able to generate short running life to the arm side from lower slot, topped out at 82 mph. Incorporates lower half well with a long stride towards the plate, effort at release but lives down in the zone, flashed a slider at 73 mph. Fields the ball out front in the infield and funnels well, takes an extra step at release, ball comes out clean from hand and works from a lower arm slot on throws across. Righthanded hitter, begins with a wide base and a high hand set and back elbow in the box. Uses a toe tap trigger at start of swing, full swing path through the zone and gets extended out front, hands are direct to the ball. Occasionally gets to front side early, employs a contact approach and shows a feel for the barrel with occasional lift out front. Good student.
