Andrew Weland is a 2018 RHP/OF with a 5-10 190 lb. frame from Wayne, NJ who attends Don Bosco Prep. Medium frame with a strong, athletic build. Projects for additional strength while maintaining athleticism. Primary right handed pitcher with a simple side step delivery. Stays tall on back side at gather and works to the plate with tall and fall lower half actions. Tends to land at a slightly closed position on front side generating some crossfire at release. Primarily showed a long arm circle while releasing from a high three-quarters arm slot. Flashed good feel to each edge of the plate with a fastball offering that had good downward angle through the zone in the mid to upper 70's, topped 79 miles per hour. Curveball had 10/4 shape with solid speed and good depth when staying on top of offering. Tends to slow arm speed slightly with a changeup offering that had occasional sink in the low 70's as well. Continued to shower better feel for each off speed pitch with each inning and consistently kept hitter off balance while changing speeds and location. Good student.
