Luke Gilliam is a 2019 3B/RHP/1B with a 6-2 180 lb. frame from Eureka, MO who attends Chaminade College Prep. Large, broad shouldered build with long limbs and room to fill throughout moving forward, has present strength to frame. Primary third baseman, fields the ball out front, remains tall through release, can continue to incorporate lower half through the ball, full arm action through the back, hands work well at the ball, arm strength will continue to develop. Also pitched, repeats delivery well and works on line towards the plate, similar full arm action and works to an over-the-top release point. Worked to both sides of plate with fastball, topped out at 78 mph and shows heavy life when down in the zone; slows arm action on curveball, found release and landed pitch for strikes up to 63 mph. Righthanded hitter, begins with an upright and narrow stance in the box. Balance to swing and load with toe tap trigger, stays short to the ball with hands. Stays inside with hands, contact oriented approach and creates contact out front, middle of the field contact when squared and on time. Good student.
