Hugo Sanchez is a 2018 1B/2B/3B with a 5-11 185 lb. frame from Brownsville, TX who attends Los Fresnos HS. Medium frame with solid build and beginnings of strength. Projects for additional size and strength. Ran a 7.78 sixty yard dash. Primary first baseman, squares up well while funneling the baseball out front. Smooth paced footwork while pivoting to delivery throws to second base. Clean glove to hand exchanges while working through transition. Loose arm circle prior to releases from an extended three-quarters arm slot. Throws generated some carry across the infield with accuracy, topped at 73 miles per hour. Also worked out defensively from the infield showing square shoulder while surrounding the baseball from a slightly deeper position. Funnels the baseball cleanly out front with two handed actions. Flashed quick actions while working through transition prior to releasing from a more compact three-quarters arm slot. Topped at 72 miles per hour to the bag with occasional carry. Right handed hitter an upright, even stance and leg lift trigger. Lower half shows rotational actions generating minimal shift into contact. Hands works to contact on a loose, extended path creating a naturally lifted plane through extension. Flashes raw strength with some carry into the gap when contact is squared. Primarily worked the baseball to the pull side gap, but flashed the ability to work the ball between the gaps as well when staying behind baseball. Outstanding student as well.
