Will Schmitt is a 2018 1B/3B with a 5-10 170 lb. frame from Johnstown, OH who attends Johnstown. Medium-large frame with solid, athletic present build and lots of projection remaining on frame. Ran 60 yard dash in 7.63 seconds. Sets up to hit from open stance with wide base, higher hand set, leg lift timing mechanism with quick bat and good intent. Has loft in swing with feel to drive the ball, patient approach that won't expand the zone, shows good bat speed and solid plane in swing. Does a good job catching the ball out front with the barrel and using the entire field. Showed well defensively at first base, waits back well and fields cleanly with neat funnel, pivots well and makes accurate downhill throws from high slot. Arm strength clocked up to 78 MPH across the infield. Good student.
