Derek Morrison is a 2016 1B/3B/RHP with a 6-3 230 lb. frame from Katy, TX who attends Obra D. Tompkins HS. Has a large frame, broad shoulders, and a clear sign of present strength. Posted a 7.30 60 yard dash. From the infield, showed solid footwork and fields the ball out front. Throws from a lower slot with easy arm action. At the plate, right-handed hitter that starts with a wide stance. Full swing on a line drive swing plane with a middle of the field approach. Raw power and strength at the point of contact, had two deep doubles to center field in games. Will see additional success as his lower half continues to develop. On the mound, right-handed pitcher that throws from an over the top arm slot with full arm action. Fastball generates some arm side run. Changeup has similar action as fastball. Curveball has 12/6 shape with big break. Currently projects more with bat. Good student.
