Charles Erickson is a 2018 C/UT with a 5-8 170 lb. frame from Gainesville, GA who attends North Hall High School. Medium, athletic frame with square shoulders and present physical strength to frame. Ran a 7.75 60-yard dash. Primary catcher, compact set up behind the plate, receives the ball out front, quick transfer out of glove, stays on line and through the ball at release well, carry on throws down to second base. Quickness and balance to throws in the outfielder, tall at release, quick transfer throws from a higher arm slot with a tight arm action in the back. Also pitched, up-tempo delivery, compacts arm action in the back working to an over-the-top slot, able to generate plane on fastball and topped out at 82 mph while living down in the zone. Stays on line well with lower half, curveball shows 11-5 shape with solid depth at 69 mph, deceptive out of the hand. Righthanded hitter, begins with an open and narrow stance, high hand set and back elbow in the box. Quick trigger at start of swing, shows a short and inside path to the ball with ability to create loft and backspin. Comfort working all fields and shows carry coming off the barrel when extended out front, line drive swing plane through the zone. Very good student.
