Garrett Brown is a 2017 RHP/3B with a 6-1 180 lb. frame from Madison, AL who attends James Clemens HS. Nice athletic build, has some present strength with more to come, long arms for his height, projects. Good hip turn in his delivery, doesn't get rotated back and throws cross body on release, extended 3/4's release point, some backside collapse that causes him to lose angle to the plate, lots of simple fixes to improve his mechanics. Mid-80's fastball, topped out at 87 mph, mostly straight. Cross body release impacts curveball spin and feel, loose spin. Did not observe a change up. Definite potential to improve with adjustments. Very good athlete with two-way potential. Right handed hitter, big move into contact with a long and strong swing, not consistent but flashes big power. 7.02 runner, sound actions at third base defensively. Interesting young player who should continue to improve. Excellent student.
