Carlos Tumpkin is a 2018 RHP/OF with a 6-3 210 lb. frame from Grosse Pointe Park, MI who attends Brother Rice HS. XL frame with excellent present strength and overall physicality. Ran 60 yard dash in 7.18 seconds. Primary righthanded pitcher; long and loose arm stroke through the back up to high three quarters slot release, can get mistimed coming through due to length through the back. Fastball worked 83-86 mph and touched 87; featuring very heavy arm side life at times along with steep plane when located down in zone. Showed curveball with 10/4 shape and general slurviness; flashes quality depth when consistently on top of release. Fastball can be overpowering when commanded. Sets up to hit from slightly open stance with high hands, leg lift trigger, extends a bit early at times, good loft to swing plane, flashes ability to create leverage and backspin with impressive carry when squared up. Worked out in the outfield, works through the ball well and shows looseness and speed to arm, clocked up to 84 mph on throws. Good student, named to 2017 Ohio Valley Showcase Top Prospect List.
