Jacob Wright is a 2019 C/RHP, IF, OF with a 5-11 160 lb. frame from Benton, AR who attends Bryant High School. Medium, athletic frame with square shoulders and present strength throughout frame, additional room to fill out moving forward. Primary catcher, receives the ball out front, shows quick feet coming out of the crouch and gains ground into release, quick transfer and release out of the glove, gets on top of throws, on line throws down to second base and arm strength will continue to develop. Righthanded hitter, begins with an open stance and a high hand set and low back elbow in the box. Utilizes a leg lift trigger at start of swing for timing. Shows a short and compact swing path through the zone and incorporates physical strength well to generate bat speed to the ball. Patient approach at the plate, occasionally gets to front side early but hits the ball out front and shows a linear swing path. Comfort hitting to pull side, shows quickness to hands with lift at point of contact at times. Very good student.
