Tyler Gillespy is a 2018 SS/ with a 5-10 145 lb. frame from Raleigh, NC who attends Garner. Medium, athletic frame with slender present build and good projection remaining on frame. Ran 60 yard dash in 7.41 seconds. Hits with balanced swing mechanics, clean bat path with smoothness and fluidity, quiet throughout mechanics without any wasted movement, direct to the ball with hands. Did good job of hitting the ball on a line to all fields, some jump off the barrel is present with more on the way as he adds strength. Showed quick actions defensively, moves to the ball well and fields cleanly, quick release with IF velocity up to 76 MPH on accurate throws. Pitched as well, leg raise delivery into drop and drive, rotates hips well and gets online, FB worked 75-78 and touched 79 with solid life to arm side. Showed CB with solid 11/5 shape and good spin. Pounded the zone with both pitches and got quick outs. Very good student.
