Zach Chapman is a 2016 LHP/1B, OF with a 6-2 175 lb. frame from Loveland, OH who attends Loveland. Primary left handed pitcher, sturdy build with solid present strength. Easy, well-paced delivery with leg lift just below the belt, slight quick turn at apex creates some deception. Slight back lean and hunch over front leg, rotates well over frontside and gets online. Works to high 3/4's arm slot, short break on backside, compact arm-action with looseness, tension-free. Fastballup to 79 mph, gets on hitters quickly and generated some weak swings. Shows developing feel for upper-60s curveball with loose, long 1/7 shape, able to throw offering for strikes. Also mixed in a changeup. Left handed hitter, hits from upright, narrow base. Simple, repeatable approach with limited lower half movement. Keeps hands inside the ball, strength shows up in flashes, could better utilize lower half in order to tap into raw strength. Good student.
